[bewerk] Darkwave
- »Als de eerste aanzet tot Darkwave wordt vaak het album "Black celebration" van Depeche Mode genoemd.«
- It is from a reliable source? Maybe a music magazine? Because i found a mention of darkwave in a magazine from 1988:
-
- New Life Soundmagazine - November 1988 (Coverpage)
- New Life Soundmagazine - November 1988 (Page 10)
A wrong mentioning, typical for German magazines. Joy Division was never a darkwave band, but a postpunk band. Furthermore: Black Celebration was from 1986.
- the problem is that germany has the most mentions of the term "darkwave" or "dark wave", mainly in the early 90s. in my opinion "darkwave" is a term from middle europe. i found the term in a new life magazine from 1988.
- but where is the "darkwave" mention of depeche mode's black celebration album? i can't find it...
- in many parts of the european continent, joy division were not distributed as "postpunk" or "goth", but "new wave"... the same thing like siouxsie & the banshees etc. postpunk or goth were not really etablished terms. especially in germany every thing was called "new wave", "dark wave" or simply "wave". --87.122.39.167 15 jul 2006 13:34 (CEST)
