[edit] My likings in a nutshell
[edit] Game Shows
I love game shows. No, really. I have almost 70 tapes and hundreds of hours of various game shows. I probably even have episodes of shows you've never heard of, like Baby Races. While my interest in them has waned over the years, I still occasionally watch GSN, as well as holding a modest tape collection.
My favorite game show host? The late, great, Ray Combs. Although other people such as Bill Rafferty, Marc Summers and Dick Clark would probably high up on that list.
Favorite Game Show? The $25,000 Pyramid. I don't know why, but that's always been my favorite. Other favorites include Double Dare, Wheel of Fortune (the 80's-90's episodes moreso than now), Family Feud, Card Sharks and The Price is Right (because my grandparents watched it every day, and it's somewhat of a memoriam).
[edit] Video Games
I am a rabid Nintendo fanboy. I anticipate the Reggielution... I mean, Wii-volution. I own almost every Nintendo system (save for the Virtual Boy and Nintendo DS) and have been supporting them a long time. However, I also own a few systems from Sony, plus a few SEGA systems. I do not mind Sony or Microsoft, and I wish them all good luck in the Next generation of video games.
I also play PC games occasionally. I support Valve Corporation and their Steam service. I play Half-Life modifications all the time. Catch me under this handle on Sven Co-op or The Specialists, or hell, any first-person shooter such as Doom. As opposed to my old PC which I had for three years (My advice: Stay away from any pre-built PC because it sucks for gaming) I actually have a decent computer that can run recent games much better, thanks to my Nvidia GeForce 6600.
[edit] Music
I like music. More specifically, game show themes, instrumentals and video game music. Some of my favorite composers include:
- Game Show theme composers
- Score Productions
- Edd Kalehoff
- Steve Kaplan
- Video game music composers
- Kelly Bailey of Valve Corporation
- Zak Belica of Ritual Entertainment
- Masato Nakamura (Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequel)
- Naofumi Hataya and Spencer Nilsen (Yes, I like both Sonic CD soundtracks)
- Bobby Prince
- David Wise
- Jesper Kyd
- Film composers
- John Barry
- Harry Gregson-Williams
- John Powell
- David Arnold
- Sean Callery (Although he's more of a television composer and composed for Everything or Nothing, I see him going places, like Michael Giacchino.)
[edit] Computers
I got into computers early, working with Apple Macintosh computers in elementary school before we finally got a computer in 1995. Since then, I'm almost always near a computer. While I might not be able to use programming languages, I know a couple solutions for commonplace problems (such as adware, spyware and virus removal.)
I also use Mozilla Firefox almost all the time, and Microsoft Internet Explorer on other sites such as YTMND. And yes, I use Windows XP because Mac OS doesn't get many computer games (and when they do, it's usually 2-3 years after it's been released on Windows) and Linux seems too complex for me to understand.
[edit] Other interesting facts
- I graduated from High School one year later than usual.
- I was born 3 1/2 hours after the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986.
- I'm very good at writing, acting and (supposedly) public speaking.
- I also like other things such as the James Bond series of films and Mystery Science Theater 3000.
- More to come when something else interesting comes along.
