[edit] TfD nomination of Template:Infobox Philippine president

Template:Infobox Philippine president has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. FYI. -- Rick Block (talk) 19:37, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ferrol, Romblon

Somebody is vandalising the article about Ferrol, Romblon, as you have seen. He did the same on the Dutch Wikipedia. I even had to ask an admin to protect the page, because he would not stop. It is probably the only thing to do. Magalhães 19:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

I've semi-protected it. Coffee 09:49, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Assuming good faith?

Hi, read the WIkipedia policies and guidelines, and I noticed one called assuming good faith or something... doesn't that apply here? I mean, couldn't you have at least asked what I was doing?

The truth is, I am a terrible writer, but I make it my life's work to point out media bias, and I see a lot of it on Wikipedia, sadly. I am adding tags to do so, with the hope that others may fix them, since my writing isn't very good (I'd point out ecxamples from my IP address edits before I made my account, but they're like, embarassingly bad.)

Hi, I would like to express my gratitude for your participation at my recent RfA. The final vote was 68/21/3 and resulted in me becoming an admin!

For those of you who supported my RfA, I highly appreciate your kind words and your trust in me. For those who opposed - many of you expressed valid concerns regarding my activity here; I will make an effort in addressing them as time goes on while at the same time using my admin tools appropriately. So, salamat, gracias, merci, ありがとう, спасибо, धन्यवाद, 多謝, agyamanak unay, شكرًا, cảm ơn, 감사합니다, mahalo, ขอบคุณครับ, go raibh maith agat, dziękuję, ευχαριστώ, Danke, תודה, mulţumesc, გმადლობთ, etc.! Jjpa 77 10:17, 15 July 2006 (UTC) Hi Coffee!! The article, Rizal (province) in the Philippines has some unnecessary marks or vandalism. Please improve the page... Thanks!! Jjpa 77 10:17, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Recall To Hell

I was the person who recently nominated Recall To Hell for deletion. I don't do enough maintenance, just correcting spelling mistakes and helping out on the RD when I can, so I didn't realise it was a prime candidate for speedying. [edit] List of Magsaysay awardees

Hello. I have been populating the above mentioned list since a few days and the list is now complete. I searched around for some wikipedians from Philippines and came to your page. I don't have much knowledge about Philippines or names used in that region. Could you have a look at all the names and check their spellings? There may be some people who already have articles on wikipedia but they still show as red links due to spelling mistakes that I may have made. I have posted a similar message on User:Christopher Sundita's talk page. If any of you could help then it would greatly improve the list. Thanks. - Aksi_great (talk) 17:35, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maps, DB Dumaguete

Chief, I have recently come up with articles about the Congresses of the Philippines: First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Thirteenth Congresses, Eighth to the Twelfth are to follow Ü, would it interest you to create a map showing the number of representatives each province have? The provinces will be shaded according to the number of representatives they send to the house of representatives for each congress.

I also saw your district map of Negros Oriental, you might also interest in creating district maps for the provinces I've already come up with congressional district articles: Congressional Districts of Manila, Congressional Districts of Cebu, Congressional Districts of Agusan del Norte (these are the ones divided into two or more congressional districts), I am to commence working on the others. But for Manila I guess the boundary between Pasay and Manila should be rectified, as Manila owns a piece of land on the CCP Complex [1]. It might also be nice to shade in different colors the 16 districts of Manila (Tondo, Sta. Cruz, Quiapo, San Nicolas, Binondo, Sampaloc, San Miguel, Sta. Mesa, Sta. Ana, San Andres, Intramuros, Port Area, Malate, Ermita, Paco, Pandacan), or much like the shading in the provinces shown in the Regions of the Philippines; districts which belong to the same congressional district will have the same color, but will differ in shade. I can help in determining each district's limits I have an old map which shows them, if you need any assitance.

I also made template of Don Bosco Schools in the Philippines Template:Don Bosco Philippines, since you took your HS in DB Dumaguete, would it also interest you to write an article about it? Only DB Mandaluyong and DB Victorias have articles, long way to go for DB Philippine Schools. Scorpion prinz 04:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Protection request

Maybe you could protect the articles that Tobias Conradi is moving? I can't put a block since I'm involved in the dispute, but since you aren't, maybe you could. I don't think I could do that.. I guess I'm kinda involved in the dispute, since I've been voicing my opinion on his talk page. I was just about to move back the Quirino article myself. :p Coffee 05:13, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Filipino History

It's the number of sources. Make sure that every single statement in your article can be verified by a source. Also, that book you referenced as a source must be in footnote format for consistency. Just place it as a reference wherever you used that book.

By the way, I noticed that you are a resident in the Philippines. I am American, but my mom was from Metro Manila and my dad from either Cebu or Layte, I don't know which one. Anyway, nice to meet another Filipino. Happy editing!--Edtalk c E 02:44, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Boston Tea Party

Howdy, I noticed that you and I seem to post in one or two articles dealing with progressive issues in political science/sociology. There's currently a debate beginning in Boston Tea Party as to whether the article should include the category [2]. It meets definitions set in the articles Terrorism and Definition of terrorism, however, there are several self-proclaimed patriots who watch BTP who refuse to recognise the fact. The simple criteria for terrorism generally seem to be intimidation or destruction of property in order to change public policy or public opinion while a state of war has not yet been declared. Some users would rather use recent acts of terrorism as a yardstick, rather than using a firm definition, and hence lose their ability to discuss matters calmly. Would you be able to pop in to the Talk page and join in the discussion? Thanks much, samwaltz 05:18, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New municipalities in Basilan

Hi, While visiting the website of NSCB I noticed that the province of Basilan has four new municipalities as of May 2006. Two municipalities were split off from Tuburan, Basilan: Akbar, Basilan and Hadji Mohammad Ajul, Basilan. Two other municipalities were split off from Tipo-Tipo, Basilan: Al-Barka, Basilan and Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan. See for more information: http://www.nscb.gov.ph/factsheet/pdf06/FS-200607-PP2-02.pdf. Would it be possible for you to create new maps for these new municipalities as well as the changed ones? Magalhães 12:52, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Sure, I'll make new maps sometime soon. Coffee 18:00, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Uhh... I think I've run into a problem. I don't have a reliable source to base the new municipality borders from. I tried to figure out the borders using mapcentral.ph, based on the way the barangays were distributed, but it seems that the result was a weird patchwork of borders that didn't seem accurate. I guess I'll just need to wait until some reliable source comes up before I can make new maps. For now I'll just put the maps of the town that it used to be part of. Coffee 06:13, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok. I will inform you when I come across reliable sources that provide the new municipality borders. Magalhães 18:55, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bikol languages map

Awesome map so far! Thanks. The image size and fonts are perfect Here are some suggestions:

  • Cebuano, Hiligaynon & Tagalog should be the same shade of gray.
  • Could you make Central Sorsogon a darker green so it could better contrast with the bay in the middle of it?
  • Would it be possible to put the names of major cities? Or at least provincial boundaries if the names of major cities makes it look too busy.
  • A legend on the bottom left hand corner: North Coastal Standard Bikol (red box), Southern Coastal and Inland Bikol (purple box), Northern Catanduanes Bikol (yellow box), Bisakol (green box), Other (gray).

As they say in Bicol Naga, Diyos Mabalos!  :-) --Chris S. 20:21, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Just wondering if you ever got around to this. I had forgotten about it. hehe. Thanks. --Chris S. 02:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to this lately... Since September I've been mostly in Cebu away from my "main" computer so I don't have access to Photoshop or the original PSD file of the map I made. Coffee 03:12, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maps

I'm wondering if you have Philippine provincial maps that are blank and use only two colors (white and gray or blue and gray) like the Wikipedia's blank world maps. So that I can simply use paint in filling them up. --Howard the Duck 10:47, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Oh yeah, that would be a nice thing... Unfortunately I'm in Cebu right now so I don't have access to the original Photoshop files. But I think I'll be going home this weekend so i can provide some nice template maps, no problem. :) Coffee 11:38, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please undelete Wikipedia talk:Subpages pros and cons

Can that talk page be undeleted (see Wikipedia talk:Subpages pros and cons log). It turns out it is not orphaned, but is linked to from :

Alternatively, do you think it is so old and uninteresting (I don't know, I haven't seen it), even for meta:Wikiarchaeologists, that the incoming links should be deleted instead? That alternative would also be fine by me. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 10:57, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Technically that page is speedyable since it's a talk page to a page that doesn't exist now, but I think here's a better solution: I've undeleted the page and moved it to Wikipedia talk:Do not use subpages/Archive, and updated the incoming links. It is a very old page (untouched since 2002), but maybe people can find it interesting. :p Coffee 13:03, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New Philippine Province

Maguindanao voters approve new province Last updated 04:17am (Mla time) 10/31/2006 Published on Page A14 of the October 31, 2006 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer

Voters in Maguindanao’s 29 municipalities have approved the creation of a new province to be composed of 10 towns, Of Maguindanao’s more than 500,000 registered voters, 285,372 favored the creation of Shariff Kabunsuan province. Only 8,802 voted against it.

Shariff Kabunsuan became the country’s 80th province and the 6th in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The new province, carved out of Maguindanao, is composed of the towns of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Kabuntalan, Upi, Sultan Kudarat, Datu Blah Sinsuat, Sultan Mastura, Parang, Buldon, Matanog and Barira.

ARMM is now composed of Maguindanao, Shariff Kabunsuan, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi and the city of Marawi.

The new province was named after an Arab-Malay Islamic preacher who introduced Islam in Central Mindanao in the 14th century.

[edit] Bohol

Okey, I should have checked...Anyway, I will see what I can do to check and make sure Bohol is about the LGU Province and Bohol Island is about the island of Bohol. Any thoughts as of the current contents of each right now? Guest818 03:14, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

The way I see it right now, the contents in the intro in Bohol are about the island, not the Provincial Government of Bohol. I think we need to change the title of Bohol to Provincial Government of Bohol and retain Bohol Island as well as re-direct an Bohol to Bohol Island... I don't know...Just a thought! Guest818 03:29, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, the Bohol article doesn't have to be only about the provincial government.. It should be about Bohol as a cultural, political, geographic entity (see, for example, Philippines, or California). The way I see it, the Bohol Island article should be about the island itself as geographic feature. Coffee 04:09, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Okey...I will see what I can do...Guest818 06:45, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't really know anything about SVD, but feel free to make stubs for any of these schools as long as you have some reliable sources to make them up. :) Coffee 04:09, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
The University of San Carlos is in Cebu City. It is one of the schools run by the SVDs. I really meant to write template, not stubs, like the one the Ateneo has at the bottom...Is it possible for you to make one for the SVDs as well? Thanks...Guest818 06:44, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Hmm... I would like to, but I don't have any sources for the locations of the tarsier or the Chocolate Hills. Coffee 07:40, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Yehey! Both articles Philippine Tarsier and Chocolate Hills state the locations. Please let me know if I still need to list them down. Thanks much!!!--Pinay06 10:20, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
The Chocolate Hills are in the Municipalities of Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan, + a little in Bilar, Valencia and Sierra Bullones. Maybe same color for 1st 3 municipalities, where the hills are concentrated, and a different color for the last 3.--Pinay06 10:24, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
As for the Philippine Tarsier, they are found particularly in the provinces of Bohol, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao, Philippines, also in Maripipi, Siargo, Basilan and Dinagat.Tarsiers have also been reported in Sarangani.--Pinay06 10:27, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Locator Map Nueva Ecija Fix

Hey Coffee,

I dunno if anyone mention this yet but I think you should fix the Nueva Ecija map. Notice the difference between these two maps:

ON the Tarlac map, to the right of Tarlac is Nueva Ecija. ON the Nueva Ecija map, to the left of Nueva Ecija is Pangasinan.

Perhaps, change Pangasinan to Tarlac, Benguet to Pangasinan and Tarlac to Pampanga and it should be fine.

By the way, kudos on the maps. They're great. PhilipDM 00:23, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maps of Philippine municipalities

Higala,

I would like to ask a zipped copy of the maps of Philippine provinces. As you might have already known, were using your maps for the Cebuano Wikipedia. The usual process is to simply copy the maps from here in en and copy to ceb. However, I've learned (just this week ;)) how to use pywikipedia, and I realize how much work can be automated by using a bot. In this regard, I would appreciate it if you can send me a zipped copy of the images through my email (bentong_isles at yahoo dot com) so that I can upload it to ceb-wp using a bot. Also, I would like to ask how you would like to be credited in ceb-wp for the maps. Salamat! --Bentong Isles 12:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
