The Fantastic Journey

The Fantastic Journey was a shortlived 1970s American television series in 10 episodes that was aired on NBC between February 3 and June 17, 1977.

The science fiction series concerns a group of people in the Caribbean (Bermuda Triangle) who are shipwrecked on an unknown island. They soon met Varian, a 23rd century telepath, who informed them the island is called Evoland, and due to a strange case of time/space warp, people from the past, present, and future are all present on the island.

The group tries to make their way across the island and figure out a way off, while encountering several people from the past, present, and future who are also trapped on the island. Although airing in a time when the nation's interest in the Bermuda Triangle, UFOs and fantasy was at a height, the show failed to last beyond the 10 episodes.

It has since been argued that the show had an interesting storyline, and its cult following afterward shows that it possibly could have developed a longer run. However, there were several cast changes, with certain favorite characters simply disappearing without much explanation, and by its 10th episode, its ratings had dropped and it was cancelled. The show continues however to have a small cult classic following, but no word on if or when the series will be available on DVD. [1] [2] [3]
