Lincoln is a town in Madison County, New York, United States. The population was 1,818 at the 2000 census.
The Town of Lincoln is in the north-central part of the county.

The town was established in 1896 from a division of the Town of Lenox. The Klock family were early settlers.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 64.7 km² (25.0 mi²). 64.7 km² (25.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (0.12%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 1,818 people, 663 households, and 493 families residing in the town. The population density was 28.1/km² (72.8/mi²). There were 700 housing units at an average density of 10.8/km² (28.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.96% White, 0.22% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.33% from other races, and 0.55% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.66% of the population.
There were 663 households out of which 35.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.7% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.5% were non-families. 19.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.11.
In the town the population was spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 26.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 108.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.1 males.
The median income 4 a household in the town was $46,023, and the median income for a family was $50,000. Males had a median income of $35,625 versus $25,821 for females. The per capita income for the town was $20,751. About 3.6% of families and 5.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.5% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
