Homewrecker is a show on MTV hosted by former Jackass star Ryan Dunn. The show is a twist on home renovation reality shows such as Trading Spaces and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition; instead of the room being renovated, it is wrecked. The show has two parts where two separate people get revenge on douchebags (friends who have recently pranked them) by trashing their bedrooms. There are short clips in between scenes where host Dunn teaches the viewer how to get revenge at home—oddly enough, the stunts are usually of the type that warrants a Homewrecking by the offended party. The clips are shot in the style of 1960s training videos.
To qualify for Homewrecker, a participant has to submit to the show a story of how he was victimized by one of his friends. Each segment opens with the "victim" explaining to Dunn what happened to him or her; Dunn then scopes out the offender with said participant to get additional ideas on what to do. Finally, Dunn and a team of professional stunt personnel help the participant redo his or her friend's room to fit what the evildoer has done.
It is unconfirmed if homewrecker will return for a second season.
Examples of Homewreckings have included:
- Hair Cave - As revenge for shaving the participant's pubic hair, hair collected from barber shop floors is pasted on cavelike formations which are then placed in the room; several of the friend's belongings are also submerged in visible tanks of colored hair gel.
- Chicken Coop - As revenge for coating a buddy in corn syrup and feathers, the offending party's room is filled with feathers, live chickens, egg launching devices, and other things normally found in a chicken coop; the offender's clothes are also crammed into the built-in feed bin.
- Bingo Parlor - A relatively mild retaliation for tricking a friend into going to a senior citizen party, the offender's room is set up as a bingo parlor with cheesy 1970s decor; elderly people are then brought in from off the streets to play bingo as the offender is brought into his room.
- Public Restroom - As revenge for a bathroom-related prank, items from old public restrooms are assembled to form a particularly nasty bathroom, complete with leaky pipes, graffiti, used urinal cakes, and flooding toilets.
- Locker Room - Similar to the above prank, sweaty towels and items from old locker rooms and public showers are crammed into the offender's room, with his or her clothes and other belongings locked in the lockers.
- Garage Disaster - The room is set up to resemble a garage with the door slammed onto half of a car identical to that of the offender; the offender's possessions are locked up in lockers in a similar way as above.
- Beauty Parlor - The offender's room is crammed full of old, dirty beauty salon fixtures, 1960s bric-a-brac, and salon waste products; when the offender returns to the room, an old lady is getting her toenails clipped, a large, smelly man is taking a mud bath, and the offender is finally strapped into a salon chair and covered in shampoo.
- Teen Girl's Room - A male victim's story is too weak for Dunn; as a result, the victim is pranked again by the so-called "offender" and Dunn for being a wimp. While the victim is being led to believe that he will get to wreck his buddy's room, the contents of his own room are replaced with boy band posters, a bed that is too small for him, brightly colored furniture, and other items likely to be found in a young teenage girl's bedroom.
