Geelong High School

Geelong High School is a co-educational, public, secondary school located in East Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is on the corner of garden street.

Geelong High accommodates approximately 1000 students ranging from years 7 through to 12.

Geelong High School is one of the best public schools in victoria, it is thought to be up with the private schools as teaching and facility’s go. For the past few years Geelong High has been going under some major buliding changes, consisting of new wood and metal rooms, many state of the art science labs and a computer pod, New Gymnasium, New library and a learning centre complete with a Computer pod, Class Rooms and a theatrette. It is one of the only few schools to have multi level bulidings, there is a three story buliding and a two story buliding the other bulidings are only one story.

The school is situated in a lovley neighbourhood (East Geelong) and backs on to Geelong's Lovley Eastern Garderns, where there is a number of green grassy ovals and wide open spaces, the Geelong Botanical Gardens are close by and so is the lovley Eastern Beach and just down the road is the city of Geelong. Because of where it's located there are many opportunitys to take students on exercursions, it's only a few minutes to the Botanical Gardens, where many students take their pencils and Art books and draw plants for art class, also many home groups can easily take their students down for a McDonald Lunch as a treat or even to the movies as these places are located just down the hill in town, and sport classes can easily head down to the beach for a dip in the water or even to play a game of soccer on the grass in the sun, there is even a running track in the park behind the school for all those student's who love to Run.

In 2003 the school introduced, the ILP program which is a program where students in years 8 to 10 can choose their stubjects based on their intrests, carrer paths, what technology they want to do for example food or wood work and level of learning they are able to do for example if a student who struggles with maths could choose a eaiser maths than advanced maths, most if not all students believe that the ILP program is better for their learning than having set subjects that every one takes. This year 2006 will be the first year to have completed a full 3 years of the course.

Geelong high, loves their sports and have a number of sport days like athletics day, the swimming Carnival and sportiing competitions against other schools and homegroup against homegroup. There are four sport teams Moorabool (Yellow), Barwon (Blue), Corio (Green) and Leigh (Red).

Geelong High school is a great school the teachers are lovley and the stundets are fun loving and all in all it's very happy fun place.
