Ihre erste große Auszeichnung gewann Shakira 1997, einen Premio Lo Nuestro als Best New Artist, in diesem Jahr folgte auch der Premio Lo Nuestro für Best Female Pop Artist. Sie gewann insgesamt zehn Premios Lo Nuestro Awards, unter anderem auch für Best Female Pop Artist"(1997;1999;2002 und 2004) und für "Best Rock/Pop Album" MTV Uuplugged(2001) und Fijacion Oral Vol. 1(2006). Im Jahre 2000 gewann Shakira zwei Latin Grammy Awards für Best Female Rock Vocal Performance (Octavo Día) und für Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (Ojos Así). 2005 gewann sie fünf Premios Juventud Awards, unter anderem für Favorite Pop Star. 2000, 2002 und 2005 bekam Shakira elf Video Music Awards Latin America.2006 bekam Shakira sechs Latin Billboard Music Awards,für unter anderem Latin Song Of The Year, Pop Album Of The Year und Spirit Of The Hope.Außerdem bekam sie in dem Jahr 3 Premios Lo Nuestro(für u.a.
