One of the lighthouses designed by Richard Henry Brunton for the Japanese government, 1868-76 at Tsunoshima, Shimonoseki city, Yamaguchi prefecture, Japan. Now it is open to the public. It very closely resembles the Scottish originals, and was at first staffed by a professional Scottish lighthouse keeper from the Northern Lighthouse Board of whom there is a fine large portrait in the nearby building which was his cottage.

This lighthouse was illuminated for the first time on March 1, 1876 according to a plaque at its base. It was Brunton's last design in Japan.
