Brenner (Italian: Brennero, Ladin: Brenner, German: Brenner, Note that many of the Italian languages ("dialects") in the area use Brenner) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige, located about 110 km northeast of Trento and about 60 km north of Bolzano, on the border with Austria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,075 and an area of 114.1 km².[1]
The municipality of Brenner contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Colle Isarco, Fleres, Ponticolo, and Terme di Brennero.
Brenner borders the following municipalities: Gries am Brenner (Austria), Gschnitz (Austria), Neustift im Stubaital (Austria), Obernberg am Brenner (Austria), Ratschings, Pfitsch, and Sterzing.
The south end of the Brenner Pass is located in this municipality.
