"Aneurysm" is a song, written by Nirvana's frontman Kurt Cobain. It is inspired by Cobain's breakup with his girlfriend at the time of writing, Tobi Vail. A 2000 poll from BBC Radio 1 saw it voted as the 3rd best Nirvana song, behind Smells Like Teen Spirit and Heart-Shaped Box. It was released in four different versions.
- The original studio version of the song featured as a B-side to the band's first hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in 1991 and also the 1992 tour EP Hormoaning. This version also appeared on the 2004 box set With the Lights Out.
- A studio version recorded for the BBC radio program Evening Session and produced by Miti Adhikari appeared on the band's 1992 album Incesticide.
- Pieces of two live performances (one from 1991 and one from 1993) were put together on the 1994 home video Live! Tonight! Sold Out!!. The footage of Aneurysm from Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! was released as a promo video in 1996 for promotion of From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah.
- Another different live performance appeared on the band's 1996 live album From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah. When the album was released in 1996, promo singles of the song were released for radio air play.
